Ethereum EIP 858 vote

Check the Ethereum network lately and you can find a vote titled  “What should be done regarding proof-of-work issuance until Casper is ready”. Link The votes deal with whether or not the  difficulty bomb should be delayed again, and whether there should be a static reduction in block reward.

The hodlrs clearly showed up, as you can see, the most support is for a large reduction in issuance down to only 1 ETH from the current 3. You could say removing the difficulty bomb permanently and increasing the block reward to 5 ETH would be best for miners in the short term, as they would be more profitable. It’s good to see that these options are not getting much support. An indication that the concensus mechanism is working.

But—does anyone care? One concerning point is how few voters actually turned out. As of this writing, only 98 addresses have cast votes. Although you could argue that it’s the amount of ETH that are ‘staked’ that matter, or that there is some proxy voting happening.

A total of over $24 Million worth of ethereum is represented in the votes as of the time of this writing. If you would like to vote, instructions can be found here.
