Traditional carbon offsets, while well-intentioned, often face criticism for their opaque verification processes and static nature. Imagine a new class of carbon offsets, not just based on historical estimates, but on real-time, verifiable environmental data. We propose **Dynamic Carbon Offset Tokens (DCOT)**, a novel smart contract use case designed to bring unprecedented transparency and responsiveness to climate initiatives.

A DCOT smart contract would be linked directly to specific environmental projects, such as reforestation efforts, ocean cleanup operations, or renewable energy facilities. The smart contract would then, in real-time, algorithmically adjust the supply of DCOTs, minting new tokens as measurable positive environmental impact occurs, or even burning tokens if unforeseen negative events (e.g., deforestation in a protected area) are detected.
